Oversize and Overweight Vehicle Permits Oversize, Overweight, and Extra-Legal Vehicle Information

The E-470 Public Highway Authority (E-470) enforces truck weight and length policies, and regulations with respect to motor carrier safety on interstate highways, in accordance with CRS 42-4-510(II).

Oversized and overweight vehicles are required to have an EXpressToll account with an orange bumper-mounted transponder to drive on E-470. For more information about this please click here.

E-470 also follows similar guidelines found in the Rules and Regulations of the State of Colorado Department of Transportation Pertaining to Transport Permits for the Movement of Extra-Legal Vehicles or Loads. Click here to download the document in PDF format.

Extra-legal vehicles on E-470 are only permitted to travel if they have an EXpressToll account and CDOT permits. Permits from CDOT may be obtained by clicking here. EXpressToll is the automatic way to pay tolls on E-470, and there are dedicated EXpressToll lanes to appropriately accommodate extra-legal vehicles.

Please be sure to plan your travel accordingly so that you are able to obtain transponders for extra-legal vehicles. To set up your EXpressToll account, call 303-537-3470, option 1 locally or, outside Denver, 1-888-946-3470, option 1. The Colorado State Patrol enforces this policy.
